Visit to East Jerusalem, Ramallah, and Nablus, 30 June - 5 July 2024

Oliver McTernan and Jordan Morgan held meetings in East Jerusalem, Nablus, and Ramallah with senior cross-party Palestinian leaders, Ministers, youth leaders, and academics to assess the challenges they face.

They travelled to Nablus (30 June) and convened a roundtable with young Palestinian leaders and academics from SEEDS to understand the impact of the ongoing Israeli Occupation, rising settlement activity, and settler violence. Whilst there, they met Palestinian political leaders who had been previously held under Israeli administrative detention.

In Jerusalem, they held a roundtable with PASSIA (1 July), in addition to bilateral meetings with senior UN, US, UK, and Irish officials (1 and 5 July).

On 3 July, they met with five of the newly appointed technocratic Ministers from the Palestinian Authority. They discussed the issues they face in both the West Bank and Gaza.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the overall situation, the challenges, and potential risk of an uncontrolled eruption of violence.
