Women for a Sustainable Future
The WSF was established in recognition of the disproportionate impacts of the climate crisis, global health challenges, and economic instability on women. This is particularly true for women in the Gulf-MENA countries that are most affected by climate change. Domestic abuse, economic exclusion, conflict, and the marginalisation of women from the political decision-making process, however, transcends national and regional boundaries and equally impacts on the lives of women in Europe as in the Gulf/MENA countries.
The WSF brings together women parliamentarians from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Egypt, the EU, Finland, France, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Tunisia, Türkiye, the UAE, and the UK alongside government officials and experts from international institutions such as the WHO, UN, and the US Department of State.
Our Aim is to provide an independent space for women parliamentarians across the Gulf-MENA to meet with their European counterparts. This will enable women MPs, alongside relevant officials and experts, to address the human, environmental, economic and social challenges that pose a threat to our common humanity and the potential for a global sustainable future.
Our Goal is to affect real change by moving from dialogue to action. We facilitate the sharing of insights, learning, and lessons between parliamentarians and our cross-boundary network of government officials and experts to enable women to address national and global challenges at a policy and practical level within their own parliaments.
