The Director and Projects Assistant hold meetings in Israel and the West Bank, 21st-22nd April

Oliver and Ed travelled to Israel/Palestine to begin a week-long series of meetings and discussions. The visit provides an opportunity to evaluate the current situation and the challenges facing the peace process.Oliver and Ed met with a number of Knesset members from across the political spectrum, including representatives from Likud Beitenu, Shas,  Jewish Home, as well as members of the Labor party. In depth discussions were held with Eli Yishai,  the former minister of interior and the joint leader of Shas.   The meetings provided an update on the current socio-political situation in Israel following the recent Israeli elections.They also spent a day in Ramallah and Nablus in dialogue with members of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the opposition, in order to discuss to the current challenges facing the West Bank.   Whilst there they met with Mustafa Barghouti and Salam Fayyad.Oliver and Ed also met with British officials based in Israel and Palestine. Across the two days they held discussions with both the British Consul-General in Ramallah and the British Ambassador in Tel Aviv.
