Forward Thinking travel to Luxor, April 18th

The Forward Thinking team travelled to Luxor to gain insights into how the transition has created both opportunities and challenges in the different regions of Egypt. While there, the team travelled to Zainiyyah, a town just outside of Luxor, to meet with the local Mayor. The Mayor informed  Forward Thinking about what he saw as the main challenges facing the town:  education, water sanitation and employment. The team also used the trip to visit a local school where they listened to young Egyptians and teachers express their needs. Forward Thinking also witnessed first hand some of the challenges facing the residents of Luxor, when they  visited an area of open sewage in the town. The raw sewage poses a clear health risk to the many residents who live next to it.The visit concluded with a roundtable discussion with various civil society organisations and members of political parties to discuss with them what they saw as Luxor's challenges and opportunities at this time.
