Expressing concern over developments at the Gaza-Israel border– 25th August 2021

Forward Thinking is deeply concerned over the latest developments at the Gaza-Israel border. Over the weekend, there was the heaviest cross-border fighting since the May conflict. Members of our network have underlined the possibility of military escalation today (25 August) following the march at the border near Khan Yunis.Since May, there has been rising discontentment in Gaza due to delayed deliveries of vital reconstruction materials and restrictions at the border. During discussions, leaders have highlighted the pressure that they are under, noting that all efforts to contain the situation on the ground are compounded by high amounts of anger on the Palestinian street. The international community has been called upon to use diplomatic engagement to minimise the prospect of another war.
