The Deputy Director and Projects Officer attend a private viewing of the British Museum exhibition ‘Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam’, March 2012

On the invitation of the Director of Public Engagement at the British Museum, Yusuf Desai, Deputy Director, and Edward Channer, Projects Officer, attended a private viewing of the exhibition ‘Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam’, followed by a meeting with the exhibition’s co-curator.   The aim was to explore ways Forward Thinking could support the efforts of the British Museum in reaching Britain’s diverse Muslim communities to increase their awareness of the exhibition. 'Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam' brings together a wealth of objects and artefacts from a vast number of lending institutions and countries to depict the history of the pilgrimage to Mecca. It displays, in intriguing detail, the logistics of the incredible journeys undertaken by pilgrims both in the past and in the present, whilst illustrating the spiritual significance of the sacred rituals involved. The exhibition runs until 15th April 2012.
