Statement on the Assassination of Mohamed Brahmi, 25th July

We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mohamed Brahmi who was assassinated this morning.This criminal act targeted not only Mr Brahmi but all Tunisians who strive to build an inclusive democracy based on the principles of respect, tolerance and non-violence. Mr Brahmi's assassination comes at a time of great regional instability and risks exacerbating tensions within Tunisia at this sensitive time. We hope that those responsible for Mr Brahmi's murder are swiftly brought to justice, allowing Tunisia to continue on its transition towards a stable and successful democracy.
