Oliver was invited to speak at a conference titled: "The EU As A Peacemaker – Enhancing EU Mediation Capacity", being held in the National Assembly of France. The conference sought to assess the  strengths and weaknesses of the existing tools of the EU in the field of mediation, with the aim of identifying possible steps to further improve EU mediation capacity.Oliver spoke on a panel examining questions such as:  What is the role and value of different diplomatic approaches, and how is the EU engaging with international organisations, member states, NGOs and local actors?
