World Economic Forum meeting, Dead Sea Jordan 24-26 May

Oliver attended the 2013 World Economic Forum meeting on the Middle East and North Africa, convened around the theme of "Advancing Conditions for Growth and Resilience." The meeting brought together over 1000 key leaders from both the international community and the region, to examine the challenges and opportunities currently confronting the MENA region. The meeting noted that with large energy endowments, youthful populations and some of the fastest growing economies globally, the MENA region has the potential for a prosperous and secure future, but decision-makers must offer clear leadership to realise this goal.As part of the meeting Oliver spoke on a panel examining the issue of "Political Islam and Governance." Other panel members included Dr Emad Abdel Ghafour, the leader of Egypt's Al-Watan party.
