Helsinki Policy Forum Women Parliamentarians Network, Understanding the Situation in Afghanistan - 6th October 2021

On Wednesday 6 October 2021, a meeting of the Helsinki Policy Forum Women Parliamentarian Network was convened in response to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. Discussions were attended by parliamentarians and government officials from: Egypt, Finland, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The meeting provided an opportunity for parliamentarians and other relevant decisionmakers to learn about the unfolding situation on the ground and to identify practical steps that the international community can take to support the women of Afghanistan.
