Forward Thinking meet with Mohamed Soltan, 21st October 2015

Forward Thinking met with Mohamed Soltan at our offices in London, where he provided the team with a briefing on the political situation in Egypt and on his personal experiences within Egypt's prisons.Mohamed was a citizen journalist in Egypt and covered the Rab'aa Square protests. He sustained a gunshot wound in the dispersal of the sit-in on the 14th of August 2015 and was subsequently arrested along with several of his friends. Months into his imprisonment, Mohamed began a hunger strike to protest against his imprisonment, that would eventually last for a total of 490 days. In late May the U.S. government was able to secure Mohamed's (a joint US- Egyptian citizen) deportation to the United States.
