Forward Thinking hold meetings in Cairo, 28th October - 1st November 2012
Forward Thinking visited Egypt, 28th October - 1st November to discuss the political situation in the country and the challenges facing the country’s politicians and civil society.During their visit, Oliver, Julian and Edward met with Dr Osama Yassin, Minister of Youth, where they discussed the government’s initiatives to address the needs of Egypt’s youth. They also discussed the drafting of the new constitution, and the broader political environment with senior members from the Constitutional Committee, Al Nour Party, Al Wafd Party and April 6th Movement, as well as with former presidential candidates Dr Amr Moussa, Dr Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh. They also held meetings with members of the European diplomatic community, Egyptian business community and members of civil society.Egypt is at an important point in its transition to democracy as the process leading to the agreement for a new constitution nears its potential conclusion.
