Exploring the Bosnia and Herzegovina Model of State and Religion with Israel’s National Religious 3rd March 2021

On Wednesday 3rd of March, Forward Thinking convened its second workshop ‘Exploring the Bosnia and Herzegovina Model of State and Religion’, with a group of prominent Israeli national religious Rabbis and Rabbaniot.  A senior advisor to the Interreligious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina* shared their perspectives on the historical and contemporary ethno-religious relations between state and society, discussions also explored some of the root causes of the 1992-1995 Bosnian conflict.The aim of the workshop was to further help the influential group of Israeli national religious leaders develop a better understanding of how to address some of the challenges of the state-religion model within their own context as well as contentious aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.*The Inter-religious council of Bosnia Herzegovina is a non-governmental organization established in 1997 by leaders of the four main faiths (Muslim, Catholic, Orthodox and Jewish) which contributes to building civil society in parts where the influence of churches and religious communities are inviolable.
