Exploring models of state and religion with Israel’s national religious - Online workshop on 5th November, 2020

On the 5th November Forward Thinking convened an online workshop with a diverse group of figures in the national religious community. The workshop was an opportunity to reflect on a national religious delegation to the Netherlands that was facilitated by Forward Thinking in February 2020.MK Matan Kahana of the Yamina party joined the discussion so that the group could share what they learned with a political leader within Israel’s national religious community. The workshop explored the challenges of Israel being both a Democratic and Jewish state and potential ideas to reconcile these challenges. Participants shared ideas on developing a new state and religion framework rooted in respect and consensus, and possible pathways to achieve this.
