Developing Educational Leadership in Palestine, 20th March 2019
The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) seeks to create a new generation of Palestinian educators, who can spearhead the necessary reforms to provide a quality education that will help young Palestinians achieve their aspirations and to contribute more effectively to the economic and social development of their country. To deliver this vision, the MOEHE recognised that teachers require regular in-service training and development in order to overhaul their methods and implement systemic changes. In response to this expressed need, Forward Thinking has coordinated with the MOEHE and the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), to successfully secure seven places for Palestinian teachers with recognised leadership skills to participate in Harvard’s Middle East Professional Learning (MEPLI) Fellowship. On 20th January 2019, Jordan Morgan and Edward Channer met with participants who represented diverse school districts from across the West Bank. Their participation on the Fellowship began in February 2019 and has already begun to provide participants with practical learning, inspiration and vision, which has in turn begun to trickle both down to students, parents, teachers and up to the policy making level.
