Meetings with UK Programme Community Groups

In August 2023, we had several meetings with Muslim community groups from across London, Manchester, Yorkshire and Bradford to discuss our UK Programme strategy and activities.

The discussions highlighted the need to address the serious challenges that Muslim communities, including young Muslims, currently face. Many feel that politicians do not represent British Muslim communities or respond to their needs. Islamophobia in the media and politics was also underlined as a significant issue. Alumni of our Pathways into Politics programme emphasised the need for ongoing mentorship for Muslims working in politics and other sectors, particularly due to high levels of Islamophobia that they have experienced.
