"The Need for a Seat at the Table" - National Religious Delegation in Belfast and Dublin
Between the 7th and 11th of October 2018, a political, religious and civil society delegation of female leaders from Israel's national religious community visited Belfast and Dublin to explore the experiences of conflict and peace on the island of Ireland. The delegation was exposed not only to realities of peace lines and legacy issues, but to the complexities of Brexit and its repercussions. Reflecting on the implications of the Irish experiences for the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, there was agreement on the need to engage - to be at the table - in order to have a voice in shaping a durable resolution to the conflict.Acknowledging the complexity of what happened in Northern Ireland was also agreed to be a call for complexity in the regional context, where binary narratives and simple solutions are the enemy of the practical - if difficult - realities of making progress.
