The Middle East Programme Manager holds meeting in Israel and Palestine, 22nd-27th February 2015

The Middle East Programme Manager travelled to Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, 22nd-27th of February, to meet with contacts from across the political spectrum and evaluate recent developments in the region. Much attention was given to the forthcoming Israeli elections and what their implications might be for the Peace Process. On the 23rd Edward travelled into Gaza to meet with several Palestinian political and community leaders. The inadequacy of the international community efforts to support the rebuilding Gaza was stressed by all. With over 100,000 people still displaced from their homes and power cuts of up to 18 hours a day, many fear that a humanitarian disaster will materialise unless aid is increased.
