The implications of annexation in the West Bank - the perspective from Gaza. 7th May 2020

On the 7th May, Forward Thinking convened an online discussion with interlocuters in Gaza. The discussion focused on the possbility of annexation, what the international response might be, and the possible reactions from Palestinian political leaders within Gaza. The core message was that annexation would badly damage the propsects for a durable resolution to conflict. The international community was urged to take serious steps to prevent annexation, which was feared would make any future Palestinian state unviable and could spell the end of the two-state solution. This meeting is part of Forward Thinking’s series of discussions with senior figures in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza to understand the full range of perspectives from across the region on what annexation might mean for the future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
