The Director and Nyon Process Manager attend the Al Jazeera Forum, Doha 16-18 March 2013

Oliver and Julian travelled to Doha to take part in the 7th Annual Al Jazeera Forum, titled "The Arab World in Transition: Opportunities and Threats." The forum examined the current transformations occurring in the MENA region and the implications of these changes for the Arab world.Oliver spoke on a panel examining the current state of the Israeli/Palestinian peace process. The conversation was wide-ranging and provoked a lively debate. Oliver's speech examined the failure of the Oslo Process and called for renewed effort from the Obama Presidency to resolve the crisis. He added that negotiations needed to be inclusive of all political parties, regardless of their position on the political spectrum, if there was to be any hope of a creating a durable peace. He concluded by warning that the current situation in Gaza and the West Bank is increasingly untenable and that unless progress towards a two-state solution is made soon, there is a real risk of serious unrest.The speech was well received and was discussed in local newspapers.
