Religious Leadership at the Frontline - Religious Scholars Meeting in Rome, 18th - 21st November
Between the 18th and 21st of November, Forward Thinking facilitated a high-level religious scholars dialogue in Rome. The meeting brought together leading religious scholars from the Jewish, Muslim and Christian traditions in order to build better mutual understanding of the theological significance of Jerusalem's Holy Sites and the role of religious leadership in the pursuit of peaceful coexistence.Discussions over three days were constructive, enabling participants to explore how entwined religious and political narratives become in a conflict context, the significance of different interpretations of historical events, and the responsibility of religious leaders to engage with these complexities for the sake of their communities. Several areas for practical action and further dialogue were suggested, and we are working with participants to support their development of these initiatives.
