Palestinian Political Leaders Explore Experiences of the Irish Conflict and Peace Process, 26th - 30th November 2017

Forward Thinking facilitated a visit of six senior Palestinian current and former PA Ministers to Dublin and Belfast from 26th - 30th November 2017. The visit allowed them to explore a range of experiences and perspectives on the Irish conflict and peace process. To this end, meetings were held with Irish and British, republican and unionist political figures, academics, former political leaders and negotiators.The delegates pursued a number of key themes in discussions throughout their visit. These included the role of identity and its significance in pursuing a durable peace, the importance of committed and strong leadership of a constituency, and how progress may be achieved in a context of wider stagnation. Participants commented that the Irish experience is full of insights that are useful to their own contexts.
