Oliver attends the World Economic Forum - 23rd+24th January 2020

On the 23rd and 24th of January Oliver attended the World Economic Forum in Davos where he took part in closed meeting looking at the current challenges facing those engaged in the search for a durable solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In his presentation Oliver criticised the current Israeli focus on managing rather than resolving the conflict and stressed that internal political divisions within both the Israeli and Palestinian parties were impeding any real efforts to find the level of political consensus that is essential to make progress.Furthermore, regional instability and the current influence on political thinking and policy that evangelical groups in the US and National religious groups in Israel are adding to the complexity of finding the required level of compromise a durable solution will require. In spite of these challenges, we remain optimistic that a political solution is possible and continue to work to promote such.
