Forward Thinking's Fellows Programme hosts Francis Campbell, Monday 21st March 2016

“Interplay of secularism and faith and in Britain today”On the 21st March 2016 the Forward Thinking Fellow’s Programme hosted its third meeting of the year with Francis Campbell, appointed Vice-Chancellor of St-Mary’s University, Twickenham, former British Ambassador to the Holy See and Forward Thinking Trustee.Mr Campbell drew on his wealth of experience as former Ambassador to the Vatican exploring Britain’s diverse and complex entanglement of faiths, religious and secular values and their role in shaping the political and social landscape of today. He discussed the continued importance of understanding faith in the Britain, and the secularising forces deemed to increase its marginalisation. In the context of foreign policy it was said that a deeper reverence, at the societal and individual level, of religion and faith would help ensure religion is seen as a possible vehicle for peace and resolving conflicts, making more effective strategic decisions and fewer diplomatic miscalculations abroad.
