Forward Thinking's Fellow's Programme holds first roundtable of 2016 with Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, Wednesday 13th January 2016

Forward Thinking's reinvigorated Fellows Programme 2016 kicked off with its first roundtable of the year with Baroness Helena Kennedy QC as its chair on Wednesday 13th January 2016. Baroness Kennedy, who is a Trustee of Forward Thinking, hosted the event with passion, wit and humanity exploring issues of citizenship, women's rights and the importance of the commitment to human rights in conflict resolution.The evening session gave the Fellows an opportunity to discuss and explore issues with someone who has dedicated their professional life to giving a voice to those with the least power an opportunity to champion civil liberties and human rights. Her glittering career as a barrister saw her involved in many high profile cases including the Brighton Bombing, the Guildford Four appeal and the bombing of the Israeli embassy. She was elevated to the House of Lords in 1997, a member of the International Bar Association Task Force on Terrorism and is still President of the School of Oriental and African Studies, at London University.
