Forward Thinking organise roundtable for Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi, London 20th April 2017

On the 20th of April Forward Thinking helped organise a small roundtable in the British parliament with Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi with parliamentarians and representatives of the diplomatic community.Participants at the event, hosted by the Rt Hon Alistair Burt and titled "The Future of Tunisia: Addressing the Challenges", acknowledged the enormous progress that Tunisia has made since 2011 - agreeing a new constitution, repeated peaceful alternations in power, and comprehensive reforms in diverse sectors, notably in the field of women's' rights. However, several persistent challenges were identified as threats to Tunisia's long term stability if unaddressed, most notably high rates of unemployment and slow economic growth. Discussions accordingly focused on how these challenges might be addressed and what role the United Kingdom and regional powers could play in alleviating them.
