Forward Thinking host workshop on the British Government's strategy towards the Syrian Conflict, 14th October 2015

Forward Thinking convened a small roundtable workshop bringing together Members of Parliament, journalists, representatives of the international community in London, and members of civil society to explore the British Government's strategy towards the conflict in Syria. A robust debate took place on the extent to which the UK's approach has been based on a mistaken analysis of the crisis, with some participants highly critical of the West's inability to formulate a coherent policy towards Syria since 2011.Other issues related to the conflict were discussed including the role of regional actors in exacerbating the conflict, the challenges created by the fragmented nature of the opposition, and the potential consequences of the recent intervention of Russia in Syria.
