Exploring the challenges of Palestinian reconciliation - Forward Thinking facilitate roundtable in Ramallah, 20th June 2019

As part of a series of activities in the West Bank, Forward Thinking invited Professor Alain Lemperuer to chair a discussion with cross-factional political figures from Ramallah, Bethlehem and Nablus. Professor Lemperuer is the Alan B. Slifka professor and director of the Conflict Resolution and Coexistence Program at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management.

The group agreed to focus on Palestinian reconciliation and the first half of the discussion focussed on identifying current challenges, before moving on to assessing  where practical steps for cooperation might exist.Themes covered included the role of women and young people in political decision making, promoting meaningful inclusion and reconciliation at multiple levels of society and how to overcome differences in pursuance of a unifying objective.
