Community Conversations : Crown Prosecution Service NW meets British Muslim communities, 21st January 2019

On the 21st January 2019, Forward Thinking helped to facilitate the third CPS Community Conversations initiative in Rusholme, Manchester. Launched in July 2018, the initiative helps diverse members of local British Muslim communities engage the Crown Prosecution Service North West. Participants are given the space and time to share their knowledge, experience and opinions on issues with Martin Goldman, CPS  Chief Crown Prosecutor, and Gemma Rice, CPS Inclusion and Engagement Manager. The session included  22 community members, with constituency, including women and youth voices from across the Greater Manchester. The space  is designed to encourage frank and honest dialogue. Feedback from the conversations will contribute to the policy and agenda of the CPS in the North West to identify and tackle contemporary challenges facing communities.  The community are given time to give their feedback and proposals on the causes of, and possible solutions to, the lack of confidence of local communities in the Criminal Justice System, the growing incidence of religiously and racially aggravated hate crime and how to increase diversity within in the CPS NW workforce.
