Assessing internal Palestinian and Israeli political dynamics, 2nd - 6th July 2018

Between the 2nd and 6th of July, Forward Thinking held bilateral meetings with Palestinian figures in Jerusalem and Ramallah, and Israeli political leaders in Jerusalem.Palestinian discussions focused on the political dynamics within the West Bank and Gaza in light of the ongoing crisis in Gaza, reactions in the West Bank, and expectations of the mooted Trump proposal. Ahead of the roundtable in Gaza, these meetings are essential to assess political positions in a volatile context, and to follow up from the joint Israeli - Palestinian meeting in Ireland.Meetings in the Knesset provided the opportunity to secure feedback about recent activities. Figures at the heart of the governing coalition are actively seeking opportunities to understand how a resolution to the conflict can be pursued, particularly through the Irish experiences. These discussions provide the opportunity to plan how this engagement can be most constructive.
